Aikido – originally developed to allow practitioners to defend themselves without injuring their attacker, emphasizes engaging in an attack and rerouting the opponent’s energy and generally consists of body throws and joint-locking techniques. Additionally, Aikido training includes a strong focus on mental training, relaxation, and development of "spirit" (ki).Within the Budo curriculum at Zhang Sah, Aikido training combines both Daito Ryu and Yagyu Ryu Jujitsu styles.
